I always have trouble in putting the right pins of some of the motherboard front audio panel wires, so I made this post to remind me the correct positions of each pins.
In my motherboard audio front panel configuration:
PINS and Signal Name:
1 - PORT 1L 2 - AUD_GND
2 - PORT 1R 4 - PRESENCE #
5 - PORT 2R 5 - SENSE1_RETURN
7 - SENSE_SEND 8 - KEY
9 - PORT 2L 10 - SENSE2_RETURN
Below is the audio wire in my computer case:
MIC IN
MIC BIAS
GROUND
R OUT
R IN
L OUT
L IN
The following match configuration
PORT 1L - MIC IN (MIC L)
PORT 1R - MIC BIAS (MIC R)
PORT 2R - R OUT
SENSE1_RETURN - R IN
PORT 2L - L OUT (Speaker or L -)
SENSE2_RETURN - L IN (Speaker or L +)
PRESENCE - for HD audio dongles
KEY - not use
SENSE_SEND - used by MB controllers to auto detect if in use
