My MSI Mega Book s430x has come back from the dead

A few months ago I have encountered a very strange problem with my laptop msi mega book s430x. It started to hang or freeze during POST mode and at some point it won't display the next time I turn it on. But there are also times when it works fine but most of it, are not. So what I did is, I first contacted the shop where I bought it and ask if it still under warranty but unfortunately it has already been expired a few months ago. I have left no choice but to open and try my luck to fix this.

And so the next day, I scheduled an operation for my laptop msi mega book s430x. I went to the official website of msi to check for new bios upgrades, and yes I found a newer update. I downloaded the newest bios update so I can start flashing the new bios.

I was able to successfully flash the new bios update but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. The next thing I did was, I carefully unscrew my laptop to see and check if the fans are working. And yes it seems to be working fine. But because of desperation, I have proceeded more unto the mainboard and clean a few dirt and debris that were stocked. Again, it doesn't work and worst of all, there were no more display. After hours of figuring it out, I have given up and considered it as expendable and dead. I left my laptop on my stock room a few months right after I declared it dead. I contacted a few cebu laptop services to check for their services, but it's quite expensive which cost around 4k to 5k. They're going to find a replacement for msi megabook s430x motherboard.

So my laptop was stock for about 3 to 4 months.

Three to four months after, a friend contacted me to have her laptop check because it'll shuts off a moment after it'll start up. I was able to fix her problem by cleaning the her laptop fan. You can checkout here how I was able to open here Sony VGN-CS13M laptop.

Blessing in guise, I have thought of checking my laptop back again. I disassembled the entire piece exposing the entire motherboard. I've removed the processor and the heatsink as well as the fan. I've cleaned up almost everything using lacquer thinner. I didn't really think if this would work at all but luckily it shows signs of coming back from the dead. It starts up and loads to windows. Later on to check if its really well, I have reformatted and reinstalled windows xp.  Successfully installed and seems to have one problem - the touchpad is no longer working. I guess I could get back on this the next time around since I could still use USB mouse. Rather than messing it up again.

So glad it came back from the dead.

Coke zero trip 2009 with friends at camotes

I did this video a year ago when Coke in Singapore were looking for videos for their next commercial. As far I could remember they'll reward about $10,000 Singporean dollar for the winner - so wouldn't try. A few days after, I started recording using my Celphone's camera - also inserted some previous videos I've made with my friends. Piece by piece after days of editing, I've created the video below. You should check it out.

This is really something that I've done a year ago that you could say stupid and funny. I'm shooting this video alone on my brothers building. I  simply place the camera on the window pane while it's recording all my stupid moves along with the coke zero music. Just imagine a skinny guy like me jumping around up and down, it ain't really nice to look at. (laughing at myself) But after a few days of editing 10 recorded videos I came up with this video.

By the way I used Adobe Premiere CS3 to edit including the other music videos I've made. Check them also on the link below.

Emaxx Emx-mcp61p and GA-M68M-S2P Motherboard Specification

Today my ECS Geforce6100SM-M broke down, some of the capacitors shows bulky appearance. I tried to troubleshoot by swapping RAMs from my other RIG but it continuously beeps, so I've decided to find a new motherboard. I went to the nearest computer shop and found an interesting motherboard, the EMAXX EMX-MCP61P and the Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P, 2,330 and 2,600 Pesos respectively.

Which do you think of the two motherboards should I buy? I appreciate your feedback. Thank you

Iron Transfer Printing Business Idea

Today, me and my good friend James went to the local stores to checkout some t-shirt printing shops. We also checkout some local stores near San Jose Recolletos University at manalili to check Grandsler T-shirt of how much it each cost. We'll the white t-shirt cost 70 Pesos while the colored once are 75 Pesos. It's much thicker and smoother compared to the cheaper brands, so we bought 3 black and white shirts as my first try on iron transfer printing.

Before we gone shopping for t-shirts, we have first visited a local ink printing shop to checkout iron transfer machine. We'll we've found out that it cost 16,000 Pesos which includes 10 iron transfer papers, wax paper and a training videos ( sent via email). We also bought a few iron transfer paper as testing to our first trial using Grandsler T-shirt. We've learn from the store owner a little bit about printers to use for iron transfer. He doesn't recommend epson t10, he explained why but we couldn't believe since other shops I know uses T10, infact they include this in their iron transfer express packages.

Later that day, we went to Sigma Modena Printing to checkout their printing products and works. We are really amazed of how many products they have which includes mug, t-shirt, caps, frames with prints. We've found out a new way to print by using a special type of transfer paper called dyesub (not quite sure with the spelling). These type of paper when heat pressed will produce a seamless print on the shirt, no traces of rubber. The attendant explained that these type of technique, the cotton absorbed the ink rather the usual adhesive type or printing such as the use on iron transfer paper.

Dyesub also produced a vibrant and smooth print when use on Dry Fit type of shirts - absolutely cool. Now we got the idea and I think we could just make this work on the first try. My friend James now also have the idea on how to come out with it in a much cheaper and lesser price. We're planning to print and sell to some few friends. Good Luck to us.

Some price on iron transfer materials:

1. Dark iron transfer paper - 65 pesos
2. Light iron transfer paper - 55 pesos
3. Wedding iron transfer paper - 55 pesos
4. Iron transfer machine packages - 16,000 pesos and 28,000 pesos
5. Dyesub printing - 2 pesos per square inch - 150 Pesos per A4 size paper
6. Iron transfer printing - 50 pesos per a4 size paper

How to Built Your Own Coin Slot Operated Computer

For schematic diagram for USB coin operated computer with function to freeze the mouse and keyboard click here.

This is was indeed now becomes popular in Cebu in fact some of my friends are now distributing coin operated computers on different areas here in Lapu-Lapu City. The reason why many are engaging on this type of this business is obviously it makes a lot of money most especially when you place them in areas where there are many kids, just like in the terminal or market areas.

These coin operated computers are not that hard to make since you only need a few materials and attach a few wires to make it work. I think you don't have to be a computer engineer or an electronic expert to build your own coin operated desktop computer. However, I would highly advice that you consult someone knowledgeable about electronics since this tutorial is not thoroughly detailed. Google is your friend to find more information about this.

I'm sorry for not able to supplement you with more detailed tutorial on this post but I do have some pictures that may help you.

To start making your own coin operated computer, here are some materials that you're going to need.

1. Coin Slot which will cost you around 200 - 300 Pesos. There's an expensive one that cost about 600 pesos but I tell you, they're all just the same because I have both tested the expensive and the cheaper one. I think you should go for the cheaper one.

2. Wire - at least buy 1 mtr of wire. You'll use this to connect your coin slot to the timer.

3. Relay - just go to the electronic store and tell them that you're buying a relay for your coin operated computer. They know about this.

4. Two diodes - you can ask which diode you'll need in the store.

5. Capacitor

6. 9v-12v Transformer

7. Timer

8. Power cable that connects to your monitor.

Please ask the electronic store about some detailed infos of those materials.

Those are basically what you need to create your own coin operated computer machine. Now the succeeding pictures may not be clear but I'll try to explain them to you guys.

The diodes, capacitor and transformer are connected. You'll notice in the picture that the capacitor's gray color stripe are facing towards the transformer. You'll also notice that the transformers 1 AMP text are facing towards the capacitors gray colored vertical line.

Checkout the diodes, how they are connected, you'll notice that the wire where you'll see a gray colored head are connected on the opposite side of the capacitor wire.

That's basically how you connect the transformer, diodes and capacitor.

Moving down, the image you see is how you connect it from the transformer to the timer board. Check it out.

Try to analyze a few of how its being connected - the brown and the black wires are basically attached to the timer board.

The pictures you see above is actually the back and the front portion of the timer board. On the first picture above, take a look how the wires are placed and soldered. At the bottom or the front portion, you'll see how the relay is attached and the wires are connected. This is now ready to connect to your coin slot device which also has some wires that you should connect.

The power cable are stripped off using a knife then attached the wires that goes from the relay part as you've seen on the previous pictures - this is where the power is cut off that supplies the monitor when the timer stops.

Finally, below is a picture how all of these are connected.

I hope these gives you an idea on how to create your own coin slot operated computer or computers that works using coin slot. It only basically cut off the power supply to the monitor.

Again I'm sorry for not able to give you a more detailed tutorial on this matter but I do hope you could find something similar to these topic but more thorough. If you happen to find it, please don't forget to share it in here.

Feel free to post your questions on the comment box below.

Fishing Trip at D Pond

Last week my friends and I went to Liloan to visit a friend who got married to a local resident girl of the place and as well of our plan to go fishing at D Pond. We got there at 10 am, the weather was fine and its a bit shady too so a good timing to go fishing some fresh Bangus.

From my friends place, we are greeted with a nice and warm welcome and then after a short chitchat, we rode down the hill to reach D Pond - Bangus Fish Farm in Liloan. D Pond didn't have a very nice view like you see on most beach resorts- there are no white sand, no stations and no corals as well - all you see is an ordinary soil divided into parts for fishing.

There are cottages in different sections of the farm and it cost 200 pesos. Another thing you find at D Pond is the Grilling place - too bad they only have one for everyone, you'll see also a small store selling foods and drinks, they got also a videoke if you feel like singing and paraparnillas for fishing that you can rent at 10 Pesos - since we got no fishing rod so we rented.

And so, all of us except for the ladies who are taking pictures, we started fishing. My friend Ulyses catch the first one and a few moments later I fish out one too then another and another. Oh well! it seems to be my lucky day at the D Pond because I got the most fishes from among of us. Opet didn't almost seem to catch one but of God's kindest the persevering boy got one just before we decide to leave. Ferdinand at the other hand seems to have some touch on fishing too. Looks like we got plenty of fishes for lunch time.

Almost 1pm we got out at the D Pond with 2.3 Kilos of Bangus and ofcourse we pay for it - its 180 pesos per kilo - sounds fair but the most important thing is that we enjoyed our fishing trip at that day.

Back to Ulyses place, we prepared our fishes in two different delicacy that is grilled and tuwa (unsa gali english ani?) . We added another delicacy too in our lunch, which is the famous Talaba, got this one for 100 pesos per kilo. We almost feel like at the beach while eating under the coconut tree - Yep! we have fresh coconut juice too and a sweet jackfruit desert. Unsa pa pangitaon!!! :)

Conclusion: The fishes sounds fairly costly but the important thing is we enjoyed fishing it from D Pond.
