This is was indeed now becomes popular in Cebu in fact some of my friends are now distributing coin operated computers on different areas here in Lapu-Lapu City. The reason why many are engaging on this type of this business is obviously it makes a lot of money most especially when you place them in areas where there are many kids, just like in the terminal or market areas.
These coin operated computers are not that hard to make since you only need a few materials and attach a few wires to make it work. I think you don't have to be a computer engineer or an electronic expert to build your own coin operated desktop computer. However, I would highly advice that you consult someone knowledgeable about electronics since this tutorial is not thoroughly detailed. Google is your friend to find more information about this.
I'm sorry for not able to supplement you with more detailed tutorial on this post but I do have some pictures that may help you.
To start making your own coin operated computer, here are some materials that you're going to need.
1. Coin Slot which will cost you around 200 - 300 Pesos. There's an expensive one that cost about 600 pesos but I tell you, they're all just the same because I have both tested the expensive and the cheaper one. I think you should go for the cheaper one.
2. Wire - at least buy 1 mtr of wire. You'll use this to connect your coin slot to the timer.
3. Relay - just go to the electronic store and tell them that you're buying a relay for your coin operated computer. They know about this.
4. Two diodes - you can ask which diode you'll need in the store.
5. Capacitor
6. 9v-12v Transformer
7. Timer
8. Power cable that connects to your monitor.
Please ask the electronic store about some detailed infos of those materials.
Those are basically what you need to create your own coin operated computer machine. Now the succeeding pictures may not be clear but I'll try to explain them to you guys.
The diodes, capacitor and transformer are connected. You'll notice in the picture that the capacitor's gray color stripe are facing towards the transformer. You'll also notice that the transformers 1 AMP text are facing towards the capacitors gray colored vertical line.Checkout the diodes, how they are connected, you'll notice that the wire where you'll see a gray colored head are connected on the opposite side of the capacitor wire.
That's basically how you connect the transformer, diodes and capacitor.
Moving down, the image you see is how you connect it from the transformer to the timer board. Check it out.
Try to analyze a few of how its being connected - the brown and the black wires are basically attached to the timer board.
The pictures you see above is actually the back and the front portion of the timer board. On the first picture above, take a look how the wires are placed and soldered. At the bottom or the front portion, you'll see how the relay is attached and the wires are connected. This is now ready to connect to your coin slot device which also has some wires that you should connect.
The power cable are stripped off using a knife then attached the wires that goes from the relay part as you've seen on the previous pictures - this is where the power is cut off that supplies the monitor when the timer stops.Finally, below is a picture how all of these are connected.
I hope these gives you an idea on how to create your own coin slot operated computer or computers that works using coin slot. It only basically cut off the power supply to the monitor.Again I'm sorry for not able to give you a more detailed tutorial on this matter but I do hope you could find something similar to these topic but more thorough. If you happen to find it, please don't forget to share it in here.

I think dun sa printer medyo mahirap yan kasi d mo pa pause during printing process. If you turn it off mo naman yan, masyadong masayang sa ink dahil every time mag initialize ang printer may lumalabas na ink yan.

Bumili akanina ng timer and coinslot.. parehas lang ng timer ng sample mo. parehas din na cut off ang circuit pag ubos na ang oras. anong magiging deperensia kung di na mag dagdag ng additional na relay. What if gawin ko na lang na switch ng AC for monitor and speaker ung wire from the timers relay... (brown and back in my case) And napansin ko na gumawa ka pa ng power suppy para sa timer and coin slot. What if kuha na lang ng 12v sa computer power supply?

Ang ginawa ko is i use usb mouse and keyboard. bumili ako ng usb hub. tapos pag ubos na time is i cut off ng timer ung power papunta sa usb hub(red wire). so parang naka freeze na kb and mouse..then after 1 minute auto off na monitor ko.. ang problema ko is pano auto shut off speaker..
and one more thing sir, bakit namimili ng piso ung coin slot ko? if luma ung nilagay kong sample luma lang ang pwede if bago ung sample un din ang tatanggapin. (electronic coin slot?)

Yep. You can buy the timer locally sa mga electronic shop. Yon tungkol sa pag set sa time. May control sa mismong timer to set. Ask mo dun sa bibilhan, alam nila yan kasi tinitisting yan.

When time is up, the monitor shuts off not the CPU or the speakers as illustrated in my design. If you want to attach the speakers and shuts off when time is up then you may have to include it in the relay.

Bale ginagawa ko is nilalagyan ko lang ng load na 12V ung relay para mag switch on sya. At para i switch on nya ung AC circuit na may nakasaksak na monitor and speaker. di ko muna nilagay sa timer ung relay. so far ok pa naman try ko on and of ung DC power para ma test kung gano katagal ang buhay ng relay...

Sir, Para sa power ng AVR dukutin mo lang ung 2 wire na naka hinang sa may switch nya. then dugtungan mo ng wire tapos lagay mo sa labas ung switch. Use another switch if you want. Pero advice ko lang wag mo lagay sa harap. Why? kasi some user may turn that off without shutting down the PC. And for the system unit (CPU) switch, u can use ung pindudan ng numbers sa videoke machine. put that anywhere you want. ganun din ang wiring. putulin mo lang ung wire ng original switch then dugtungan mo then hinang mo na sa videoke switch..

oo pwede gamitin yung sa power supply ng cpu, kung hindi ka na gumagamit ng floppy drive, kuning mo yung power ng floppy drive mo diba may yellow black black at red, kunin mo yung 12v dun, yung yellow 12v black ground, black ground, red 5v. kunin mo yung yellow at black ikabit mo sa timer.
@rayman boss panu po ba gamitin yung power delay ung na bibili sa raon para sa pc, ang logic nya turn off monitor and automatic shutdown pag nag zero 0 time. tapus di mo na kailangan press yung cpu para mag open, kapag hinulugan mo sya ng piso automatic na mag oopen yung cpu. bumili nga ako ng power delay kaya lang hindi ko alam panu gamitin.

@bernard salamat sa contribution po. pero about dun sa automatic on pag naghulog ka ng 5 coins. eh lugi cguro costumer non , kasi mag loload payun windows xp more than 1 minute cguro. e yung sa aking lng mas ok cguro na e ON muna ang pc with monitor connected on normal AC without goin through the relay procedure. disable nlng cguro yun speaker, mouse & keyboard.kasi if monitor ang lagi on/ off madali lng masisira. naka experience na kasi ako non.. sa akin lng ha. ^^, but still im open to other ideas. what if diba ?...

It's been 2 weeks now and your design still working perfectly... though I made some revision in your design I hope you don't mind.... dinirecta ko na ung power ng 2nd relay sa power din ng 1st relay.. so and siste is pag me supply na na papasok sa 1st relay e meron na rin sa 2nd.. dati kasi is ung 1st relay and nagsisilbing switch para i on ung 2nd relay.. so ngaung ginagamit ko na ung 1st relay ko to turn off my usb keyboard and mouse.. And it works flawlessly...
I have 3 units at home and kumikita naman sya ng roughly 3k a week, Hopefully next month I can add at least 2 more.

Well that's the exact question I asked before.... You'll use the 2nd relay to turn on and off the monitor/speaker. Yes may relay na installed in your timer and yes you can use that. But you don't wanna ruin the whole timer itself pag pumalya ung built in relay nia..

thanks dre, subukan ko mag dagdag, para yung logic na isa sa speaker, dko pa na palitan yung USB hub, ang bagal talaga mag response ng USB ko. ganyan din yung gamit ko na USB hub tulad ng sayo kulay orange nga lang ung sakin.
sa tingin ko ok na kahit di ka na magdagdag ng relay.. ang gawin mo na lang is bili ka ng outlet na dalawahan tapos saksak mo monitor and speaker tapos ung line ng outlet ang i-switch on and off mo with the relay..

yes tama ka, may aligator clip yan yun yung switch on nya, sya yung mag sisilbing turn-on and turn-off ng relay from timer. di ba may 3 outlet sya dun mo i connect yung monitor at speaker, dun sa raon ko nabili 200 yun.

Instead of using that can i use an AVR with power surge protection? kasi pansin ko lang sa unit ko sa bahay, I never turn off my monitor pinapatay ko na lang recta sa avr. tapos pag on ko na ulit avr ko turn on na ung monitor ko.. I've been doing that in years and di pa naman nasisira ung monitor ko...

update ko lang yung interference device na nabili ko sa raon ngayun ay gamit ko parin at yung nag lagay ako ng isa pang relay sa 3 digit digital timer ko ito gamit ko parin. ang ginawa ko ung isang relay dun ko kinabit sa interference device speaker lang ang nakasaksak dun hindi ko na sinama yung monitor at yung isa kong relay dun ko ti-nop sa usb hub na nabili ko sa cdrking. kya when times run out, speaker at mouse keyboard ang mag freeze. ok na ok gamitin. yung nag tatanong pala kun saan ko nabili yung interference device for gaming sa loob ng global building yun o globe building basta magkatunog lang yun di ko na maalala eh, sa quiapo lang yun lapit sa over pass. tag 200 pesos lang yun.

Hindi po nag shushutdown ang pc kundi nag tritrip off lang ang monitor nito dahil sa timer.

actually meron talagang software para dito...meron akong nakilala na nagbebenta nito 450 each code. 1code/1pc. bale ang kelangan lang is electronic coin slot connected in 1 terminal ng serial port. Today maglalabas ko ng 8 units and I'm planning to test this software...
bro how about the 2 coin slot in 1 timer. like 1 coinslot for 1 piso and 1 coin slot for five piso at isa lang ang timer na magpagana?.

pwede ask ko unsa color ang e cut padng sa relay sa powercord sa monitor para turn off after sa time.naka try dili man ma turn off bisag wla na time..posible kaya na naa pa e set sa timer?or unsa ??wla ko idea kai first time naku .salamat..
brad, tanawa lang sa mga pictures dha. naa man dha ang connection padulong sa relay. refer lang sa images. mas makasabot ka ana.

sir...pahelp po..gumawa po kame ng timer namin using lcd display..den program lang..5 peso coin for 20 mins,.naka-relay ung cord ng monitor sa timer namin..pag hulog po ng coin, my 20 mins na time na pero pag palo ng relay e nadagdag po ng another 20 mins.panu po kaya maeliminate un?ngyayare lang po un sa unang hulog ng coin..set up po e coin acceptor to timer to relay to monitor..

Para di masayang ang powercord, gamit nalang kayo nang outlet...ung wire nang outlet ang iconnect nyo sa relay... same lang ang labas noon, mamatay ang monitor pag wala nang oras.
sa ganito nga mechanism..Set nyo rin ang autoshutdown nang PC para mag shutdown ito kung i-iwan lang nang player para magpalevel. (say 5-10min). Software na ang kailangan kung gusto ninyong maglock ang mouse and keyboard.

Boss, meron na ang unit na nabi from raon. Pinapatay lang nya yung monitor na nakasaksak dun sa isang outlet sa box.
Ang problem ko, kelangan ko pang pindutin yung power ng CPU everytime na magbubukas ako. Merong power button yung kaha na nabili ko at may wiring na na ikakabit sa CPU. Tinry ko ikabit yun (meron syang 2 na butas or 4 ata of I'm right) sa CPU. Tinanggal ko muna yung nakakabit na mga pin (8 pins ata yun o 10) tapos saka ko ikinabit yung wiring na galing sa kaha. Kaso ayaw naman gumana. Tamba ba ginawa ko? Kasi 2 pins or 4 lang yun e so tinry ko ikabait sa right side muna, ayaw padin. Then sa left side, pero ayaw padin mag ON using yung power button ng kaha. Kasi diba 8 or 10 pins yung sasaksakan pero 2 or 4 pins lang yung isasaksak na galing sa kaha? Help me naman po. Thanks.

my obsevation why you have to add another relay which i have seen to pictures above is in series connection, the on board relays just driving the other relay on top of the on board relay. why is it you only have to use the on board relay it is just works the same while it is redundant to add another relay? I have made this not to add another relay just to cut off the power of monitor. what i expect is that you have another thing to cut in and off example the sound, keyboard or mouse while it is using low power source. while the monitor is the high power source which is not allowed to used together with sound device, keyboard and mouse. I understand your wiring even it is not clear to watched, that is my analysis and now there is 3 and 1 coin slot accepting 1, 5, 10 piso coins that fits to a single relay timer. that all tanx.
