Adobe Photoshop: Love is in the air

Yesterday I've shoot some images on my brothers Canon Camera. I've captured a moment of two couple who were para sailing in the beach. The camera has captured a moment of love in the sky between two hearts on a very special Christmas day. I don't know who they are but one thing for sure, these two love birds has taken their love endlessly in the sky.

Nevertheless, the original photo didn't look quite nice but the a few adobe photoshop tricks will make it look like nice. So to make some few tweaks I have the edited the original photo and turn it into reddish romantic love scene. It takes a little adobe photoshop technique to do the trick.

Here are a few tips to make it look like this:

1. Use Auto Levels, Auto Contrast, Color Balance and Hue and Saturation on the original image.
2. Create and duplicate the image onto a new layer and set to Soft Light.
3. On the new duplicated layer apply Gaussian Blur.

Play around on those tool and you'll be able to come up with your own version or like this.

How to Setup PLDT MyDSL to Netcomm Gateway Series ADSL+2 Wireless N300 Modem Router

Two weeks ago my brother arrive from Australia and brought along with him is the new Netcomm Gateway Series ADSL+2 Wireless N300 Modem Router with VOIP. I was told to hook it up and replace the original PLDT MyDSL modem. Configuring the Netcomm modem router had took me quite awhile before I was able to make it work on my PLDT DSL connection. Before I figured it out, I had problems like limited connectivity when trying to change settings ATV PVC configuration and I had to reset the modem router quite a few times.

The Netcomm Gateway Series ADSL+2 Wireless N300 Modem Router had somehow made our internet connection a bit faster comparing from the original modem router that comes from PLDT. My brother could testify this since his the one who always complaining of a very slow and intermittent connection before I hooked up the Netcomm modem router.

We tried the range of its wireless connectivity, we went up on the roof top to check if we could still get a good video streaming. So far so good, Youtube video streaming were smooth and no buffering. My brother seems to be satisfied of the results. I guess this Netcomm Gateway Modem router is perfectly good for PLDT DSL connection for my own opinion.

I have been playing around with both phones and because I belong to Sprint for the rest of my life's tenure, I shall let you know that these are the two best phones available in the market but let's compare which is better at what.

Appearance - The Evo 4G does not have a slide-out QWERTY keypad like the Epic. The Epic despite the keyboard is about an ounce lighter in weight and that says a lot about the AMOLED screen and the absolutely flawless design on this phone. The charging port is located on the TOP of the phone and also has a little slide you need to drag open before accessing the MICRO USB/Charger. The phone looks a terrific black (like the best looking iPhone, oh yeah we care, no sarcasm) when the screen is not on. UNLIKE THE EVO, the standby key is on the right hand side of the phone and does the same thing. On first appearance, the design of the Epic is mouth watering. I've always found Sidekick like phones cheesy and even that DROID from VERIZON looks very plastic to me but I shall diss no more, the Epic might just win on this account (but I know plenty of Evo users who would disagree but this is my opinion). Because of size, weight, 4-inch screen (Evo's 4.3), design of the slide out, the Epic wins this round.

Call Reception / Loud Speaker -> While playing music, I noticed the Epic was a little louder than the Evo is but at full volume, it can be a tad too loud too which is obviously such a WELCOME FEATURE. The Evo has a loud speaker alright and also a dedicated home page where you can easily play your music but what matters is the sound because both phones offer excellent customization.

Battery Life - This is one of the primary reasons the Epic is likely to do good. I fume when I hear people say the DROID X has a better battery life than the Evo. On Epic, the AMOLED screen ensures you don't need to charge this phone more than once a day. I managed to make this last for atleast a day but I did find the battery readings to be inaccurate from time to time. Maybe this happened because I was trying the phone on Airplane mode and then switching to CDMA so that could be it. There was a difference in the battery life, sometimes the bar would be short and sometimes substantially longer. Maybe it is just a software update that is required but at the end of the day, You can have all the features on a phone but what matters a lot is battery life and the Epic takes this round too. By getting the Evo you will need to buy an extra battery unless you like carrying your wires everywhere you go. If you're getting the Evo make sure you get an extra battery charger and oh save yourself some money and NEVER INVEST ON EXTENDED BATTERIES. You wouuld think Samsung and HTC are more clever than not to have come out with the extended battery in the first place. Feel free to discuss, throw things at me on the comments column.

Screen Brightness - HTC Evo is about AS BRIGHT AS THE SUN, absolutely incredible brightness, it's like watching the most expensive HDTV sometimes. The phone even on low brightness is surprisingly bright and I always appreciate brightness. While the Epic is not dull, I'll be lying if I say the screen is as bright as the Evo or even comes close to taking this round. The Epic has a jaw dropping display but the brightness and screen quality while you're on a webpage makes Evo the winner here. The brightness may come at the price of battery life but when you drive a HUMMER, you worry not about the battery life but about the drive.

Build Quality of Plastic on the BACK - The Evo certain feels a little more solid and smooth. The back on the EVO is better than the INCREDIBLE. Evo's kickstand is an added feature but the quality of the plastic on the Evo is 15% better than the Epic when you're holding the back though Epic is quite good as it is. **Caution** Do not remove Epic's back size by the SPEAKER, you may damage the phone cause you're such a strong individual, locate a small opening at the end and then LIFT UP the back plastic covering the battery. The back is obviously not RED like the HTC EVO.

Bundled Accessories - Epic comes with a 16gb card, in ear earphones, a thicker BASIC manual I haven't opened and read yet. The Evo comes with an 8gb card and no earphones. They both come with a Micro USb Cord which coverts into a wall charger. I have tried and used almost all earphones bundled with phones and have never seen any Sprint phone with such good quality "in-ear" earphones which provide NOISE CANCELLATION. An excellent extra for the fifty bucks you pay depending on where you're buying the phones from. 16gb is like having 2 x 8gb cards.  Read more..

 Swype set the world record for text messaging speed. Swype only makes the phone that much sweeter. It comes as the default on-screen keyboard. I chose this as my next android phone because the idea of only being able to clumsily input text on an on-screen keyboard like on all the other new Android device scared me. I am a QWERTY kind of guy.

However, Swype has an extremely accurate algorithm. I find myself responding to text messages in 2 seconds as opposed to 15! It even adds emails and names from your contacts to its dictionary so that you can swype your complicated email! Whenever I know the words I am going to type are in the dictionary, I just Swype it. Its amazingly fast and almost never fails! If I need to type a password which is full of symbols, I pull out the QWERTY. Its godlike.

It really is the phone for the power-user. I spend all day using this phone. (I can't help it; its fast, responsive, intuitive, and beautiful.) I am astounded each time I check the battery, sure that it must be approaching the end of its life, and each time I am relieved to know that I can continue multitasking away.

The screen is simply breathtaking. The phone comes with several vivid backgrounds to show off the beautiful display. The technology is baffling. You can even use the back of your fingernail on the touchscreen just as easily as you can with your finger. That is how close the capacitor is to the screen. It is also why this phone is also incredibly light. I still can't help but appreciate how vivid the colors appear on the screen. I put the screen on the lowest brightness setting, and the vividness of the colors give the illusion that the screen really isn't dim at all -- which means you can increase your battery life without decreasing your experience.  Read more..

I've been an Evo user since June 4th launch day and have had the Epic as my main phone for a few days now. My previous phone to these was a Palm Pre.

Let's address why the Epic is $50 more. The physical keyboard obviously costs more but Samsung also throws in a 16GB micro-SD card (Evo comes with 8GB and I paid $30 for my 16GB card) and a surprisingly decent pair of noise canceling headphones. Those cover the extra $50, but there is one major feature it has over the Evo: the super AMOLED screen.

When I first saw the screen, I thought it looked nice. Then I had my Evo side by side and wow, does the Evo look washed out. It is a glaring difference.

Another big pro to the Epic is the Hummingbird processor and it you plan on playing games with your phone, the Epic will blow the Evo away on framerates, and of course you will have the keyboard for buttons.

I did not have any issues with mine. There are some reports of GPS issues but mine performed flawlessly, just as well as the Evo. Swype is preloaded and works just as well as on the Evo (you will have to dig on the interwebs for a minute to load it), and the voice recognition works as well as the Evo. Are you noticing a theme? They are both top of the line Android phones and unless there's a defect, many features will be a draw.

I have a much longer review of the Evo here on Amazon but I'll compare to the Epic here: the phones are the same size but the Evo is almost all screen (the Epic is noticeably lighter). I prefer the Evo's aesthetics to what Samsung tried to do with the curves on the Epic, which is in line with the Moment (not a good thing). The vast majority of users will strongly prefer HTC's Sense UI over Samsung's Touchwiz, but I use ADW Launcher, so it's a moot point for me.

These phones are very close and if I want a keyboard or a gaming-friendly device, I would opt for the Epic. The SAMOLED screen was almost enough to sway me, but I just prefer everything else about the Evo. It may be slightly older, but it will be a beast for a while to come. That's quite impressive in this age of cell-phones, where there is always a better device next month. Evo already has FroYo, a huge improvement to battery life (36 hours for my Evo) and based on track records, it will get Gingerbread before the Epic.  Read more..

How to create an epic like movie trailer using Sony Vegas Pro the easy way

Do you have videos or pictures with your friends during your weekend of adventure? Would you like to create your own epic like movie trailer the easiest way ever? Checkout this video that I've recently created using Sony Vegas template by Deviletico. It's an epic like movie trailer template that suited for Sony Vegas video editor. It's absolutely easy and you can do it too. All you have to do is to change the original images in the template and replace it with your own videos or pictures, and also write your own text. Absolutely a no brainer thing. You can do it like I did.

What you need:

1. Sony Vegas Pro video editor
2. Epic movie trailer template - Download it here

Steps on how to start editing the template:

1. After you've downloaded the epic like sony vegas template. Extract the contents and copy the font file first and paste it on c:\windows\fonts

 

2. Next open the sony vegas project file.

 

3. Once you've loaded or opened up the project file, you can start replacing text and images. Here's how to replace the text first. Make sure that you change the font style to Bankgothic DB so that it would look cool.

Here's how to change the images with your own images or videos:

The way I change it is that I create a new layer above the image template so that I could match the exact length in the timeline.Checkout the screen shot below.

After you've created a new layer and placed your own videos or images, you may now delete the original image below it. You can do this technique on the rest of the images that you wish to replace.

You've noticed on my video that I've added a little lens flare effect which you'll not find in the template. What I did is that I'd created a new layer and placed a black background image then add a lens flare effect.

Here's how to add the lens flare effect on Sony Vegas in your black background:

1. Click the EVENT FX in the image.

2. Next double click on Lens Flare effect and click ok button.

3. On the Lens Flare properties, create a new keyframe as starting point then position the lens as where you want it to start. Once you've finish setting up your first keyframe, create a second keyframe at the end of the timeline of your image then change the position and other settings that you want to animate. Just play around with it to see the results.

Once you're satisfied with all of the settings, try to preview and see how it looks like.

Yesterday I went to SM City Cebu to checkout new prices of Samsung Champ C3303. I've visited seven mobile stores including Samsung Mobile Store which I was disappointed of their prices that is way above the others. I never thought they would have the highest price among the others.

Nonetheless below is the prices that I've noted with their corresponding stores:

Hold switch: it's definitely going to be a problem, not enough to return it but enough to negatively affect day to day usage

Durability: the iPod took a hard fall directly on concrete, still works fine but the part where it hit the ground looks like it went through a car wreck

iTunes 10: the hype and hatred against iTunes 10 seems to be misplaced, it's just another update, however I still don't like having to update to use the new iPods

USB cord: would have been nice to stick with the old dock, the new cord is 3 inches long, usb on one side and 3.5mm stereo on the other, easily transported but easily lost, doesn't compliment a desk well

Applecare: I would have gotten Applecare would it have been $20, but at $30 it's approaching doubling the overall purchase price, it would most likely be best to hold off, and if you ever break it chances are the next iPod shuffle will be out by the time you do

Equalizer: still wish it was there, it could be easily set within iTunes. I will try and see if setting the equalizer of each individual song will help but when listening to the iPod in my car, and CD's burned using iTunes, the iPod songs have no mid range, the equalizer in the car was the same with each.

I recently purchased an third-generation IPod Touch, and upgraded it to the 4.0.2 firmware, after the update, I noticed my battery life was decreasing quite rapidly. So I read some reviews and they stated that after other users upgraded to 4.0.2 they too where having battery woes. So finally 4.1 was released, and I hope the battery issue would be fixed. Unfortunately it was much worse. The battery would maybe only last 2 hours tops. Now I could have just been a defective battery, but seeing as that many people with the IPod 3G was having the same sort of issues, I thought it was best to return the IPod back to the store. The I bought this IPod. End of side story... on to the review.

HD Video Recording: I love the 720p video recording on this little device. And the fact you can upload directly to YouTube is a big plus.

Camera: To spite being low-res, I think the pictures you take with this IPod are amazing. Low-Light is a issue do to the lack of a flash or light, I wish they added that.. but I am sure it would put more of a strain on the battery.

Microphone: This mic can pick up sounds from far away, and it is great for all those fun apps you can download.

Fast: The IPod Touch 4G is by far the fastest I have every seen. Apps download at amazing speeds, load at even faster speeds, and the over all performance is amazing.

Long Battery Life: The battery life is a big deal to me, so I was beaming when I started to play around with this. I played for nearly 6 hours, taking videos, playing games, using the mic, and basically giving the IPod all it?s got and the lowest the battery has been was 41% and the varies from app to app.

Amazing Apps: I am able to download some great apps, now that this IPod has both a camera and built-in mic.

The only downsides to this IPod (if I had to pick) are there is no flash/light for low-light shooting, but then that would put lots of stress on the battery life.. so maybe it?s a good thing.

No GPS. It would be nice to take a picture somewhere and it state where the picture was taken, like it does on the IPhone.

All and all this is one amazing little device. Far better then any IPod in every way.

How to embed PICASA slideshow on Facebook FBML Page

I have previously posted here on how to embed your Flickr Slideshow to your Facebook FBML page. This time I'll show you how to you embed your PICASA slideshow on your Facebook FBML page. It is simple and easy to make it work. All you have to do is extract a few codes from your original PICASA slideshow codes then paste it to Facebook FBML codes. Sounds a bit confusing? Don't worry, I'll show you the step by step procedure in this tutorial. I'm sure you'll be able to follow.

Please make sure that you have created your own Facebook page before proceeding.

1. Login to your PICASA account.
2. Click on Link to this album. You find it at the right side of the page.

 3. Next click on Embed Slideshow to open PICASA slideshow code.

 4. Set slideshow options as you can see in the image below and then copy the entire code. You will have to paste it to your Notepad on the next step.

5. Paste the code to windows Notepad (Click Start button - Click Run - Type Notepad - Enter).

6. Next is to go to your Facebook FBML page and write the following code.

Note: it is not DOUBLE QUOTE but APOSTROPHE.

7. Next is to extract the codes from the previously pasted code on your Notepad. Checkout the screenshot below. Copy the code and later paste this one at a time to your FBML page.

8. Paste the codes on your FBML page. It should now look like the image below.

9. Next click SAVE button below. That's It!!!

How to put Flickr slideshow to your Facebook FBML page

After days of trying to figure out how to put my friends Flickr Slideshow to Facebook page using FBML static, I finally have got it work. It just need a little tweak on the sample code provided by other excellent facebook users (thanks to them).  I also had to make my own "Click to play image" to start the slides.

Do you like it?  The photos are absolutely stunning isn't it? Lito Inso is an international multi-awarded photographer at a very young age. Gifted and humble too.

Nevertheless, here's the entire code of Flickr Slideshow embedded on my Facebook FBML static page.

The values of FlASHVARS are copied from the original flickr slideshow. Change FLASHVARS if you wish to have your own flickr photos to stream on your own FBML page.

Where to find the FLASHVARS? Simply run flickr Slideshow and view page source. Then find code that looks like the one below:

The IMGSRC values should be change too with your own "Click to play image or button".

That's it, save your page and then view. It should work and will play your Flickr slideshow on your Facebook page using FBML.
